Graphics: Proposed Seniors’ Ball Invitation and Program

I was assigned to design our seniors ball invitation so here’s what I got. I first observed a lot of invitation samples and I got a pretty good idea how I should make it.I found a very simple yet elegant piece so I copied it and edited some of it’s parts. But of course, I credited the site where I got it from. Thanks. 😀 Please feel free to judge my work, I’m not a pro so don’t expect too much.

Monthly Feature: Valentines Day

H A P P Y   V A L E N T I N E S !!

[credits/photo from:

First up, Happy Valentines everyone. I hope you had a wonderful day. Specially to those involved in couples dates, or even group dates (Like mine. HAHA. Date for single gurls. 😀 Sad to say, I no longer have my bf with me. HAHA.). Either way, I truly wish it turned out great! It’s a bit late for greetings but don’t mind me. I’m often like this.

Anyway, As for my time, it was really awesome. We managed to have heart-to-heart talks and chats. I love those gurls! I have enjoyed my time, even though it’s kinda depressing that I don’t a have a guy date on that same day, rather yesterday. But what’s done is done. We can’t turn back time, we can only learn from it and move on. Right? You have to agree with me, really. 😀 If you want to view our pics, just visit my profile on facebook. Thanks.

Hmmm. I almost forgot, something exciting happened. One of my gurlfriends recieved a rose from her soon to be boyfriend, I hope. HAHA. My my my, innocent love. But the sad part is, she kept the “i don’t care” side of hers. It’s something that don’t happened often these days but look at her, she don’t even treasure it the time she got it from him. After that encounter, we showered her with tons of scolding. HAHA. Not scoldings literally, just advices. We even found ourselves talking about karmas. HAHA.

You see, the thing is, we all know that she truly likes the guy. But there’s something that is keeping her from accepting him. I won’t tell more details but that’s that. Love is really unfair huh? Just like what my friend said, you kept on loving someone who can’t love you back while someone’s already dead trying to please you. Hmmmm. Truly unfair. Poor guy. All his efforts are just wasted if she can’t accept him. But that’s how life goes. So unfair and injustice.

But despite all that, why can’t we stop loving someone? Most of us know the feeling of being in love. It’s the feeling when his smile, that was not even meant for you, makes your day. When even just a brush of his shirt alongside yours can make you urge to hug him and never let go. When even just one eye-to-eye contact can make your heart jump, when you’ll make all the way to the other side of the building just to see his back. It’s that very feeling that makes us want more of this love thing. It’s so addictive that we can’t stop ourselves no matter how hard we try to froze our hearts because of the fear of pain or letting go. No matter what the consequences are, we still love and can’t stop doing it. It’s part of our system, that’s how we’re made.

It’s so easy to fall in love yet so hard so move on. That’s the very thing we’re afraid of. But don’t you think, it’s still a good thing? Not knowing pain is the very fear itself. You never know how it hurts that’s why you never try. Being hurt is not the only thing about falling in love. You can always feel happines, though he’s not the one for you, you still shared moments where you can reflect on even when you’re both on separate ways. I know it’s hard to move on, but trust me, it’s worth it.

Life is full of pain but of course, with equal happines. When you feel that your life is full of hurt, remember, up ahead there’s still miracles waiting to unfold. All you have to do is have faith in living and that’s when you’ll realize how beautiful life is specailly when there’s someone you can love and love you back. Good luck with your lovelife everyone. 😀

Movie Review: Homerun (2008) Chinese Film

Home Run

Fang Gangliang(方刚亮)

Chapman To(杜汶泽)

Bingbing Fan(范冰冰)

Yanwen Zou(邹砚文)

Xiaojie Yin(尹晓洁)

Xuan Yin(尹媗)

A child’s quest to return to home on his own takes center stage on the reality television program. With declining ratings and investor pressures, Li, the producer and host of the program, also faces difficulty in locating the next show’s talent. In the rush of things, a thought pops inside her head and she knows exactly who can take on as her next star.

She locates and brings five-year-old Lu to the set, and sends him off to find his way home alone. The cocky and resourceful boy calls his divorced father to overcome numerous hurdles, and in the process finds new and unexpected routes in a treacherous but often hilarious journey, tracked discreetly by a television crew. Lu has always wanted to find the mother whom he doesn’t know. The young boy’s determination to find his mother touches the heart of the entire nation, including that of his estranged mother, who happens to be the TV show hostess.

I just watched this movie last night. It’s been on my watch list since this year started, I think I saw it’s trailer on December but I havent managed to really watch it. I watch Asian movies on Chinese star, unfortunatley I don’t understand Mandarin so I don’t know the airtime. 😀 But I’m glad there are subtiltes during the showing. HEHE.

Here’s my opinion about the movie, I was a bit shocked when I realized that the movie’s release was 2008. I thought it was an old movie due to thier motion picture. Anyway, about the story, I really like it. As you have read on the sypnosis, the movie was about a TV show that has decreasing ratings. When she brought her own child on the set (The child don’t know that she was his mother since she kept on confusing the child, she would deny and accept it repeatedly.), due to the child cocky and resourceful attitude, the show’s rating increased.

The story didn’t stop there. The hostess feelings for her child was showing, but she had kept herself from feeling too attached due to her career. But her studio mates noticed it and had used it against her. They shown to the public her private affairs thus revealing that she really own the child. As the story progress the child begun to look for her mother, which as what his father told him, she was at the highest point of the city.

Here comes the ironic part. His parents met when his mother visited his father, which was a dentist, to ask him to remove her canines coz the fans don’t like them, she was already a famous idol during those days. But his father refused saying those canines suit her and it looks cute. But she still removed them asking another dentist. 6 years later, she was now a famous hostess.

Then on the child’s quest to go to the highest place, he met a woman his father was hitting on. She was a flight attendant and just like his mother, she got a cute canine. She helped the boy go to the highest place in China, the Oriental Pearl Tower.

His parents, now reconciled decided to admit to their son that his real mother was the hostess. But I can’t believe his mother, she just used the opportunity to make her even more famous. Anyway, on her way to the tower she found her son and admitted that she was his mother. But the boy didn’t agree since she had told him a couple of times that she was not really his mother. He pushed her away and told her, “You’re not my mother coz my dad told me that she has a canine just like mine.” Hmmmm. That was ironic neh? It really struck my heart. I’m sure she regreted what she had done.

The story ended with the boy looking at the sky where the plane was. He remembered the woman that helped him get to that tower. He was thinking that she was his mother since she was at the highest place of the city. Ironic isn’t it? I feel sorry for his real mother.

Overall, I like the movie. It was kinda weird for me but it’s ok. Also I’ve read an article;

Fan Bingbing’s Home Run was the worst-performing movie in recent years with a big-name star. Ouch. But now that she’s a bomb at the box office she’s being compared to Vicky Zhao Wei and I think she’s actually getting a bit more sympathy than she usually does, so not a total loss. Besides…it can’t be all her fault. Chapman To was in it to. Plus the story was just whack.

That didn’t cross my mind at all. HEHE. But that’s that.

Movie Review: Jenny, Juno (2004) Korean Film

Jenny, Juno

Directed by:

Kim Ho-joon

Park Min-ji
Kim Hye-sung
Im Dong-jin
Kim Ja-ok
Seo Min-jung
Kang Nam-gil
Lee Eung-kyung
Choi Min-joo

The plot centers around the relationship of a 15-year-old couple, Jenny (Park Min-ji) and Juno (Kim Hye-sung), who meet in school. When Jenny discovers that she is pregnant, she and Juno decide against having an abortion, opting for parenthood instead. They try to conceal the pregnancy from their families for as long as possible, but the truth is revealed eventually, and their parents do not approve.

It seemed that I had really enjoyed this film. I first watched the American adaptation of this film, which they claim that the story was originally theirs, “Juno”. That was nicely done too, but nothing compared to the Korean version. Comparing the two, in the Korean version, the plot was more lighthearted and sweet, while in the American version, it’s more on a dramatic and slice of life genre. Summing up, both films are really suitable  for teenagers especially now that premarital sex is common.

I liked how they showed the pure love between Jenny and Juno. Haha. To tell you the truth, some of the scenes gave me pleasant chills and a heart warming feeling. High school love was given perspective on this film and I’m sure teenagers, specially girls, would love this. Some may find it inappropriate since the main plot of the story was about teenage pregnancy but rest assured, I’m sure that this film teaches us a very good lesson. Try watching this, it’s a major recommend. 😀

Movie Review: Slumdog Millionaire (2008) English Film

S L U M D O G    M I L L I O N A I R E

Slumdog Millionaire is a 2008 British film directed by Danny Boyle, screenplay written by Simon Beaufoy, and co-directed in India by Loveleen Tandan. It is an adaptation of the novel Q & A (2005) by Indian author and diplomat Vikas Swarup. Set and filmed in India, the film tells the story of Jamal Malik, a young man from the dharavi slums of Mumbai who appears on the Indian version of Who Wants to Be a Millionaire? and exceeds people’s expectations, thereby arousing the suspicions of the game show host and of law enforcement officials.

Slumdog Millionaire was nominated for ten Academy Awards in 2009 and won eight, the most for any film of 2008, including Best Picture, Best Director, and Best Adapted Screenplay. It also won seven BAFTA Awards (including Best Film), five Critics’ Choice Awards, and four Golden Globes. Slumdog Millionaire has been criticised concerning language use, its portrayals of Indians, and the welfare of its child actors.

“You don’t have to be a genius to be a millionaire.”

Surely you wouldn’t believe this phrase right? But no, in Slumdog Millionaire, Jamal Malik, a former street child from the Juhu slums and with no proper education at all, answered every single question on the variety show “Who wants to be a Millionaire?”. Exceeding people’s expectations from an uneducated man, suspicions aroused that he already know the answers therefore he cheated. But that’s what they thought. He kept on telling them that it’s just luck that he got the answers right, since every question has something to do with his past.

And that’s the cheecky part, due to his past, he managed to answer all the questions without fail. I really like how the writer and director showed a very meaningful lesson. It doesn’t mean that because you are educated, you can get what you always wanted. Some things are meant for those who really need it.

The film shows many intriguing aspects. Starting from the way they show the poor aspects of India. Though it didn’t really turn me off. It’s pretty normal I guess. Every country have one so I don’t really criticize the film because of that. It also does have unique camera angles, surely it does deserve to win the Best Motion Picture on 2008.

As for the story, it has two plots. First the police asks Jamal how he came to know the answer to a question, and Jamal replies by recounting incidents in his life, told in flashbacks. In the other, the flashbacks tell the story of Jamal, who grew up to be a low-paid tea-vendor, his brother, Salim, who grew up to become a gangster, and Latika, who grew up to become a kept woman. It is also a love story between Jamal and Latika.

Well, over all, I really love it. It shows how life can be so tough as hell but can be as pleasing as heaven. We have our ups and downs but we should just keep on living. ‘Coz after all, that’s what life is about.
